Design for the occupied area
Room size, windows, orientation, open doorways, number of people and televisions all contribute to the load. Extensions and open-plan connections can make the effective space much larger.
The survey should identify when the room becomes uncomfortable and whether it also needs independent heating in colder weather.
Avoid uncomfortable airflow
The indoor unit should distribute air without blowing continually onto the main sofa or dining position. Furniture, curtains and tall cabinets need to be included when choosing the wall.
Low fan sound is important in a room used for television and conversation. Correct sizing helps the system maintain comfort without relying on unnecessarily aggressive airflow.
Make the equipment part of the room plan
Indoor appearance, pipe routes and the outdoor-unit position should be discussed together. A visually convenient wall may create a poor drainage route or difficult service access.
Controls and schedules can prepare the room before it is occupied. If adjoining rooms are also priorities, compare a single-room installation with a planned multi-room arrangement.
