Wall-Mounted Air Conditioning Installation in Kent
Choose a fixed wall-mounted system for an individual room or compatible multi-room installation. We assess airflow, heating and cooling needs, indoor appearance and the practical route to the outdoor equipment before quoting.
What a wall-mounted split system includes
The visible indoor unit circulates room air across a heat exchanger. Refrigerant pipework connects it to outdoor equipment; a condensate drain removes water produced during cooling. Power, isolation, supports and controls form part of the installation. A fixed split is different from a portable air conditioner with an exhaust hose.
Reversible equipment can heat the room as well as cool it. One indoor unit usually serves one assessed space, rather than several closed bedrooms. A suitable multi-split connects compatible indoor units to shared outdoor equipment; simultaneous demand and operating-mode limits need checking.
Plan the airflow before the finish
A high position can distribute conditioned air across an occupied room, but the survey must follow the selected unit’s clearances. Avoid treating the space above a bed, sofa or desk as the automatic best position. Consider where the airflow reaches people and whether wardrobes, curtains or a doorway could restrict it.
Leave access for safe filter cleaning and servicing. Indoor width, depth, wall construction and pipe exits matter as much as colour. A neat-looking position can be unsuitable if drainage, electrical work or outdoor access become impractical.
Bedrooms, living rooms and home offices
For sleeping comfort, compare sound at a stated fan setting and consider low-load operation, display lights, timers and the direction of airflow. A minimum sound-pressure figure is not a promise that the system always operates at that level.
Living rooms with large glazing and offices with people or computers can have different loads. Capacity should follow glazing, orientation, insulation, occupancy and use. A 9,000 BTU unit is not automatically the right size for every room or the whole ground floor.
Outdoor position, drainage and consent
The outdoor unit needs manufacturer clearances, a secure support, sensible neighbour-sound consideration and access for future attention. Direct through-wall routes can simplify the work; upper floors, long routes and limited side access can change the quotation.
Gravity drainage is assessed first. Where a pump is proposed, ask about sound, access and maintenance. Flats and managed buildings may require freeholder or owner permission, and planning requirements should be checked for the actual property.
Installation price and the back-to-back offer
The £1,699 starting installation is one selected 9,000 BTU system in a straightforward ground-floor back-to-back position: the outdoor unit is directly behind the indoor unit, with a short through-wall route, minimal trunking and minimal electrical work. It requires no ladders or high-level access. Extra routes, additional trunking, more electrical work or other access requirements need a separate assessed quotation. The survey confirms room suitability, the selected equipment and the written price, including applicable VAT.
This starting offer is not a price for every manufacturer, an upstairs installation or several rooms. Compare the complete written scope, not a bare indoor-unit price. Use the Kent cost guide for local quotation factors and the UK guide to understand equipment-only versus supply-and-fit comparisons.
Compare suitable wall-mounted ranges
Mitsubishi Electric M Series, Daikin’s residential wall ranges, LG DUALCOOL/ARTCOOL, Midea fixed splits and electriQ iQool offer different approaches to appearance, controls and airflow. The linked brand guides explain useful differences; the quotation identifies the actual indoor/outdoor combination.
Seasonal efficiency, room sizing and a good route influence ownership costs. Ask for the model’s energy label, its proposed control arrangement and the aftercare requirements. Routine filter care and servicing remain relevant even when a unit includes self-cleaning functions.
Questions about this choice
Can a wall-mounted air conditioner heat too?
A suitable reversible air-to-air system can provide space heating as well as cooling. Confirm heating performance for the selected model and your winter room load; an ordinary room split does not supply domestic hot water.
Can one wall unit cool several bedrooms?
It should not be assumed to condition rooms behind closed doors. Assess each occupied space and compare several indoor units or independent systems where separate control is needed.
What does back-to-back mean?
The outdoor equipment sits directly behind the indoor unit on the opposite side of the same wall. Our starting offer is ground floor with a short direct route, minimal trunking and electrical work, and no ladders.
How do I get a wall-mounted installation quote?
Use the free estimate with your postcode and room details. A survey confirms capacity, positions, drainage, electrical scope and the written price before installation.
